Barbara Jean Slaughter Martin passed away on August 24, 2015. She was born April 21, 1936 in Boyle (Cleveland), MS. She attended local school in Cleveland. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Alcorn A&M College, and her Master of Science degree from Indiana University. She was united in marriage to George Martin on June 9, 1963.

She taught in the Indianapolis Public School system for 40 years, retiring in 2000. Her two brothers Milton Charles and Thomas James and her sister Mary Miles preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband George, and many nieces and nephews.

She had a variety of interests, but she was most passionate about her career. She also placed great emphasis on the importance of family. Barbara was an active member of Covenant Community Church until her health declined.

She will be missed, but she leaves many happy memories that will live on for years. Funeral Service will be private. Arrangements: Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory
